We just moved into a house and somewhat oddly the sprinklers would turn on every afternoon for 10-15min with the controller off. We ended up replacing the standard Hunter sprinkler controller with a Rachio and it works great, however the sprinklers still come on every afternoon for 10-15min, and the controller doesn’t seem aware.
What could be sitting in between controlling them like this? We haven’t found anything obvious but are new to sprinklers. Could there be another controller/timer hooked up in between the sprinklers and the primary controller?
Always the same sprinklers? Always the same time of day? Even when your system is turned off?
I have one answer- as was lamented in the last post. I don't think they're your sprinklers. When this particular section comes on- does a neighbor have other zones going before/after the one in question?
It is the same sprinklers at the same time during the day. I will have to keep my eye out to see if my neighbors goes off at the same time.
They are inside my fence though, how is it possible for that to have happened?
The sprinkler system was installed when the house was built- sometime down the road someone put in the fence and either/or someone went over the property line(?).
I have couple of neighbors sprinklers on my side of the fence. I suppose fence was built after irrigation was installed.
Do you compensate them for the free water ??
