No.

More than an open area? Yes.

Just like flies, bugs and spiders get into your walled house, they will occasionally get into a screened patio as well; but it significantly diminishes the number.

That's right!
Have friends in FL that have screened-in pool areas- not totally insect free, but better than the alternative.

Here in the ATL, screened porches/decks are rather popular because mosquitos run amuck!!! Funny thing- most forget to screen the floor- so they come up between the deck boards!
