Wow. I convinced my husband to seal our over 20 year old hvac filter door with duct tape and I'm amazed it seems to be cooling more efficiently. It's cooling down the house quicker and feels like the floor vents are blowing more air. In winter and summer I could smell garage odors IN THE HOUSE whenever the system ran. We have a nice door seal around the laundry room door to the garage, so that wasn't the problem. Anyway, this has made my day and I'd like any feedback as to whether this has truly sealed off the unwanted garage air. It no longer smells like the garage inside while the AC runs. Also, what are your thoughts about our fresh air intake. It's located way up under the eaves of the second story. Is it necessary to draw fresh air into an electric system? Seems inefficient. Can it bring in outdoor smoke and pollution while the system runs?
