Proper water tests are a little tricky. From an outside tap, as close to the well as you can get, let the water run for a least 24 hours. Then flame the tap, get you sample without touching the rim or inside of the sample bottle. Bottles likely are free at your heath department. In Michigan there will be a record of all past tests. One should have been done each year.

The best place to take a sample from is the sample tap on the pressure tank. In Michigan we have to install taps on every hook-up.

Awhile back, I posted an old joke in another thread; it goes something like this:

A health inspector told a hillbilly family that their well and cesspool were too close together. They'd have to either stop using the well, or stop using the cesspool.
So they stopped using the cesspool --- and their well dried up.
