Hello,

My basement concrete floor has 1/8 , 1/16 inch cracks. I was browsing which products to use to fix the cracks. Does Quikrete concrete crack seal work on hairline cracks as well?

Thanks,
Dinku

Yes, it will fill the cracks and lasts for the most part depending on the width of the cracks. Just understand that once filled and you scrape off the excess from the surface, the repair will be noticeable.

And likely to crack again....there's a reason why the cracks formed in the first place, and patching them does not eliminate that reason.

This material remains flexible and allows the concrete to expand and contract in that same spot, unless it’s a shrinkage crack from placement and then it will not continue to move at that location.

Why do you feel so compelled to fill them?

Cracks like that don’t bother me- it’s inherent in most residential construction.

But, if they are displaced- then I’m looking for reasons why.

There are two types of concrete cracks. Those that have happened and those that will happen. Concrete will crack.

I don't want them to become big.

What could be the reasons for these cracks? Can the root cause be fixed? I am worried if cracks becomes big water problem might come.

Filling them won't change any possible movement.

The possibilities are almost endless. Yes; it's possible if the reason can be 100% identified.

Water from where? There should be a vapor barrier under the concrete. There should be adequate slope away from the foundation and all run-off should be controlled and directed toward the street.
