I see Home depot no longer sells Ego. I wonder what went down?
I would image that EGO would not conform to the stringent demands that Home Depot required and since they are a quality brand that is now somewhat established, they will go elsewhere for product distribution.
Home Depot requires that they can sell any manufacturers items for the lowest guaranteed price and I’d imagine EGO feels they can do better elsewhere.
Stories back in July, when this happened, say HD cut the brand. The deal with Lowe's appears to be under the manufacturer's terms. They seem to be looking to go national/multi-seller without any restrictions.
Any equipment seller that wants to go with only premium sellers is advised to look at the mistakes of Ducane a while back. Unquestionably the finest grills made and sold in the US, their refusal to sell via anything but select hardware chains and independent pool/patio/grill stores ran them into the ground.
At which point Weber bought them out and slapped the name on low-end crap from China, junk that made Weber look hand-crafted.
We have 2 EGO leaf blowers, one a backpack version; an EGO chainsaw, 2 EGO power feed weedwackers, an EGO lawn mower, an EGO snow blower, and lastly, a rolling EGO generator cage and several mini chargers for power outages. Think we bought just about their whole product line. The snow blower required service after 2 years, chute froze up at a single angle in -20degree weather, but other than that, pretty reliable equipment.
I took a quick peek at the EGO line. Way WAY out of my price range lol. I just bought my first cordless mower and snow blower from home depot. Relatively inexpensive. I love the mower, and would expect to get about 5 years out of it. Haven't tried the snow blower yet.
