My neighbor has a hickory tree that overhangs my driveway. This time of the year, it drops a LOT of hickory nuts and leaves on my driveway, making even a trip to the mailbox rather hazardous. The only solution is to remove the tree, but I'm not sure about asking my neighbor to do that. Any ideas?
This probably is something I should be asking Ann Landers but I'll try here.

Legally, you have the right to trim any part of your neighbors tree that extends onto your property as long as the cuts is within your property.
I would discuss this with your neighbor prior to taking any action and chances are, they would not be willing to contribute to the cost of having the portion of the tree that extends into your property trimmed.

Yes! This^^^^
But, if you get pushback- too bad! The law is very cut and dry- even if you make the tree so imbalanced that it falls on him- seriously! I’ve seen it happen.
Hickory nuts are edible if prepared correctly. I have two hickory trees on my property but the dang squirrels get the vast majority of the nuts. I am lucky if I can get my hands on five nuts in any given year.

I used to munch on hickory nuts on my way home from school and loved them.
Our problem is that the neighbor's tree has been trimmed to about the first 9' so we can't reach the rest of it to trim the over hang. Their priority is the casino so we never talked to them about it, but I think their insurance company might when the snow brings down the long branches of the Leland Cypress on the fence.
