Wasnt standard when our current home was built in 1973. We ended up running a water line from the kitchen sink cold water supply through several cabinets to reach the refrigerator. What made it a PITA was having to replace the cold water shut off valve under the sink. That’s why I recommended an easy access whole home shut off valve.

gotcha! my 7 year old house has a whole home water shut off valve in the flower bed outside and refrigerator with its own water line and shut off valve. My new home builder is going to do the same as well. I will make sure the valve is easily accessible and not buried under dirt.

One option is inside the home near the water heater depending on how the plumbing is run.

As noted, if you expect to decorate for Christmas:

outlets in the soffits for outdoor decorations
outlets under every front window for electric candles
connect them to one or two timers/switches in a central place to control them

outlets under sink for dishwasher and disposal service

motion sensor for garage lights just outside the entrance to the house

lots of lights in garage

radiant heat in bathroom floors/kitchen.

I have no need or desire, so clearly it is not something I would ever try.
