I have a birdbath, some kind of metal (not sure but don't think it's aluminum but it's not heavy enough for cast iron, etc.) - the bottom has gotten corroded so I thought I might be able to do some kind of covering/paint? Birds really like it (well, until recently) - I enjoy seeing them taking baths, getting a drink, etc. - some kind of pool paint maybe? I don't have the physical strength to get a concrete one, that super-heavy ones, etc.
Paint will not withstand nails and beaks for long. Have you considered an inexpensive plastic planter saucer and maybe put a rock as landing zone in it?
If it’s worth saving, and you’re willing to spend a few dollars, I would have it media blasted and powder coated. It’ll be the last maintenance you’ll ever have to do. Otherwise, start with something new with less maintenance- like concrete.
Thanks. As for a plastic saucer or something, I hadn't thought of that! It's an inexpensive birdbath that I'd gotten yrs. ago from Lowe's (simply because it was the only one I could lift - It's not worth putting money into.
