My grandmother in Puerto Rico has an off-brand shower valve that was installed a few years ago that broke. We were able to repair it, but my concern is that this might be a temporary fix.
If I were her I would have never went with an off-brand for something as important as a shower valve inside the wall. Should we replace it with a name-brand product such as a Moen Posi-Temp or a Delta MultiChoice as a permanent fix?
When it needs to be replaced, I suggest getting a Symmons Temptrol pressure balancing valve. They work, they're affordable, they're easily repairable, parts are available for their first units make 50 years ago.
I do know that Moen is replacing the Moentrol with the new M-Core. Meanwhile the Posi-Temp will continue to be available. Trim for existing Moentrol valves will also remain available. Posi-Temp uses a single control for both the temperature and and volume, while with Moentrol and M-Core the temperature and volume are controlled separately.

This is all frivolous talk- for all you know that “off-brand” valve may last 20-30yrs. By then there’s no telling what type of valve technology will be around!
As I previously stated- “don’t fix what ain’t broke”.

You have to take into account that Pink Jazz is very, very cognizant and places great value on expensive name brands.

I don't buy luxury designer clothes. I wouldn't call Moen or Delta luxury brands, Delta has their luxury Brizo brand and and there are also the European luxury brands.
Here is how I would tier brands:
Tier 0 - No-Name off-brands
Tier 1 (Generic) - Store private labels such as Glacier Bay
Tier 2 (Economy) - Peerless, Waterpik
Tier 3 (Semi-Economy) - Pfister
Tier 4 (Mainstream) - Moen, Delta, Kohler, American Standard
Tier 5 (Luxury) - Brizo, Grohe, Hansgrohe, House of Rohl
