just fyi...if your ceiling of the garage is the bottom of trusses, which will take the load of storage, they are absolutely NOT designed to do that and will fail. most likely they will fail in the form of a roof sag, but if you desire to pack the storage with cylinder heads or other heavy parts, it will fail.

ps: all these pics I am seeing of your garage walls...insulate the damn things and (best) OSB/plyood them or (meh) sheetrock them or (worst) drywall them. be surprised how much heat a garage bleeds in winter, and if you heat an open roof, you melt snow under the pack and rot the wood.

BFs don't tend to be permanent fixtures. Plan household storage so YOU can handle it on your own.

But I was just curious to see what others put in theirs. I honestly think I don't need two racks but I could always buy more crap to put there
You are going to love your garage. We are having some work done soon as well, and will need to refinish one bay. Up here with the snow and slush I just use a big squeegee on the floors. It stays clean year round.

I just want to make sure I don't overload them LOL.

What do you store in yours? TIA
I wouldn't store china I cared about high over a concrete floor, nor where it might fall on my car as well. That's just me. I would put stuff like off season clothing up there, if it falls or is dropped, no damage either way.

I don't have much overhead storage in my garage, mostly just some high shelves put in on the walls. There is a big volume of space up in the rafters that I could take advantage of though.

Gladiator galore here. Fully furnished 3 1/2 including commercial sink, fridge, tv and SO's toys plus portable a/c and heater. Walls around hot toys are covered in stainless steel. Now you gave me an idea. Painting is not my thing and diamond plate does not mind lead splatters.

The guy who came to install said he's installed thousands and only have had 3 fall. They were severely overloaded. These can hold 600lbs each. The "heaviest" items I have is a Xmas tree and two boxes of china. The rest is bins of decorations, house stuff, etc. If anything I would put the xmas tree on one and the china on the other rack.

They look good. I just can't put anything on there yet due to demo starting Monday.

I'm not thinking about the storage locker failing and dropping the china, I'm thinking about getting it up there and taking it down.

Be sure your rafters are OK for up to 600# as well - as noted they are not designed to be loaded that way, can cause roof sagging problems.

I hear what you are saying. It would definitely be a two person transaction. I've only used it once in the 7 years I've had it (unfortunately) so it's not a very common occurrence.

Also, again, nowhere near 600lbs would be put on those racks so I'm not too concerned but I will update everyone if one does fall LOL
