I have a question. I know that many do not like fabric softener but I love the smell. However, I've been using Final Touch and noticed it doesn't disperse into the wash but Downy does. So I guess I need to switch brands. I have to empty the detergent/fabric softener dispenser after each wash. There is so much water left over but seeing so much fabric softener still in it makes me think what a waste of money.

So what other brand works well? Downy smells wonderful but oh so expensive. Maybe I will just stick with downy but would like other's opinions.

I've tried diluting it but it still doesn't go into the wash. Strange stuff

Maybe it's not the fabric softener- maybe it's the machine.

It is a brand new machine that I clean the fabric softener dispenser every wash. The downy is gone and all that is left is water, if I use my old stand-by Final touch it isn't gone even if I dilute it. I was wondering if the other brands would dissolve as well as downy.

Test and compare both products manually using a separate container: add the softener, water and agitate. Of course to do a real test it means you'd need to bite the bullet and cough up $ for more Downy. At that point, why bother? Just use the Downy!

I, too, clean my dispensers weekly and I still have to actually clean the drain(not sure if that's what you call it) for the fabric softer quite frequently. I also have to clean the bleach one, too.

Look into store brand/generic Downy alternatives and/or dryer sheets:

Threw away the bottle of Final Touch today and bought a big giant bottle of Downy. I am done trying to use anything else. Thanks.
