I am doing a floating type installation of engineered hardwood flooring over a QuietWalk underlayment on my concrete floors in my new home. I am seeking advice on when I may need to use T-molding transition strips when the same flooring is used in both areas. Do I need a transition strip between a hallway and a bedroom. Do I need a transition strip between a hallway and a hall closet. I have a 33' greatroom with a 13' hallway all with wood flooring. Do I need to install a transition strip where the hallway begins? Thanks
When I had engineered flooring done in my last home, they just continued placing planks into closets or into other rooms with the same flooring. Transition strips are usually when transitioning to another kind of flooring such as carpet or tile.
As previously stated- they maybe necessary from one type of flooring to another…
But they would also be necessary if the direction of the flooring changes; otherwise I see no reason for installing just because of a room change or door.
