This thread, along with a photo I took of my new comforter cover and shams, inspired me to buy new pillows and pillow protectors over the weekend!

I think you're plenty smart not to wash the pillows, and to use and wash pillow protectors instead. I've never washed a pillow that didn't get at least semi-mangled in the washing machine.

I have a lot of feather pillows and they do wash fine in the washer and dryer. They take a long time to dry, so after they come out of the dryer, I set them outside to make sure they’re bone dry.

I just wash the pillow protectors and flip the pillows on the "sanitize" setting in the dryer. I feel like that's fine.
