I’m clueless to what is needed and need advice. I don’t need anything fancy, just something basic to tear apart a small 2-person couch. All the cushioning and fabric has been removed. Something easy for a lady to hold. lol
I assume you mean a hand saw, not powered. Obviously you don't want the saw with the longest blade in the store. A cross cut saw (intended for cuts across wood grain) will work a bit easier than a rip (intended for cut with the grain). As long as the teeth are sharp, it should work. Can't you borrow a saw from a neighbor?
It's not really the right tool for the job but if you are not familiar with power tools it will be the easiest to handle and the least intimidating. Just remember you must cut in a fairly straight line so as to not snap the blade.
Just the other night a neighbor was trying to disassemble a chair that was broken. I grabbed my sawzall and made quick work of it. It's nice to be a chick with power tools!
For demo work like tearing apart a couch, a reciprocating say (aka Sawzall) is definitely the right tool for the job.
Jigsaws are for lighter work that needs some level of rough precision in cutting curves. They also need to be held firmly against the stock they are cutting. They will do the job, they will just take 6x as long as a reciprocating saw, be more difficult to handle, and go through a blade or three.
I would take a couch apart with a framing hammer. The claw end to tear apart the joints, the hammer end to knock over staples for safety, and prop any long wood pieces against a brace and break them in two by stamping on them with your foot.
No matter which tool you decide to use, do not forget the most important thing. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

That would be fun to watch!
Instead of throwing chunks away, you just sweep it into a pile!
