Just got light-colored quartz installed. I notice that after I wipe the counters, streaks are obvious, what with the reflection from the under-cabinet lighting. I looked at counter cleaners/polishes but some are meant for granite and I don't want to get something that will remove the shine from the quartz. Any recommendations with brand names?

Most household cleaners you would usually use to do a quick clean with such as Windex, vinegar and Lysol wipes (some of which contain bleach) are not a good idea for quartz countertops. Why? Windex has a high pH level, making it potentially damaging to a manmade material such as quartz.
Then, below that, were some sites that said Windex was fine and dandy for cleaning quartz. Arghhh.

I use Method all purpose cleaner on my quartz. It smells very nice and it’s supposedly gentle. My quartz is dark though, so I’m not sure about the streaking.

Buff with a clean dry cloth over the counters after whatever you used for cleaning.

Granite gold. I've been using it for 18+ years on granite countops, various colors and quality, in various rooms in various homes. And I use it on quartz tabletops.

It's wonderful. I use the daily cleaner for regular cleaning, the polish once a month or so. Follow the directions for best results.

If an area needs disinfecting (like from raw meat), lysol spray works just fine.

I've no idea why you would think a granite product would damage the finish on quartz.

What are you using to wipe the counter with now?

Streaking is usually not the product per se, but what you wipe with. Try good quality large microfiber towels. Large ones work better because you can turn them several times before needing to rinse. They should also be wrung out extremely well- not dripping wet.

Because I've had granite damaged and just want to make sure I don't use something that will do the same on the quartz. Thanks for the tip on the granite gold.

How odd. I never have any streaks. No matter what I clean with. But usually I just wipe it with water. If it's greasy I use Fantastic, or Krud Kutter.

Windex IS fine. It won't damage your quartz no matter what that site says.
