Quick question,.
I know materials costs have gone through the roof (no pun intended) recently - but wanted to gauge opinion: my roofer's quote to replace any necessary sheets of wood is $160/sheet. It felt a bit high to me, but I wanted to ask the opinions of others. Is that price normal, or is it a bit inflated? I'm in Pittsburgh, if that matters.
A single sheet of 1/2 cdx plywood is about $35 so you need to include the labor to remove the damaged sheathing and install the new while trying to get the roof water tight by the end of the day.
It’s also depends on the amount of sheathing that needs to be replaced, if it’s apparent that it will a considerable amount or if this is just a unit price if damaged sheathing is encountered during the shingling process? I’m guessing the work involves a tear-off of existing shingles for a new roof? Depending on the specifics, that number could vary.
As a unit price when giving an estimate for a new roof, I don’t think the price is exceptionally high.
Cost of material, transporting it to the site, removing damaged sheathing, installing new sheathing, AND the removal of the old sheathing.
Most roofing contractors here around the ATL will include 3-5sheets of replacement if needed."
