I am thinking of finally buying a pellet stove for my 1300 sq ft home.
We would like it on the first floor.
Problem: My wife has a cattery in the basement.
How can I keep them (and my pipes!) warm with the stove on 1st flr?
My wife has mobility issues, and puttling the stove in the basement may not be practical.
TIA! Mike

Wondering if I've got the OP question right- you need heat to travel down to basement? Mechanically blowers can move hot air from high to lower part of house circulating things, but I'm not sure how effectively it will work or cost added factor. Depends on your budget it would seem.
typically pellet stoves are not the only source of heat. You probably want to keep whatever heat source you used to use as a primary intact...but only use it sparingly.
We have oil...but with the addition of a pellet stove...we keep the thermostat at 50 degrees. That way the oil burner only goes on to keep the extremities of the house above freezing. We use about 70% less oil.
