Yep - the mint gets muddled, NOT the lime. Yummo Mojitos in the summer for me.

The second one also could be a molinillo, a tool used in Mexico for frothing hot chocolate. You hold it between the palms of your hands and rub them back and forth to spin it.

2 - Lodestar got # 2 correct, it is a Mexican traditional wooden Molinillo Whisk used for stirring or frothing hot chocolate sauce that is being cooked as well as for frothing beverages - see pictures:
