I was replacing all the outlets in our house with duplex type, just for an updated look. Halfway through the project, I discovered these great plate covers that just fit over the old outlets. They work perfectly. Love them. $10 for a pack of 5 on Amazon.
Ah, no.
What the OP is showing in the pic is a FAKE cover (to mimic Decora), and it goes over the existing duplex receptacle- as in the picture!
I remember seeing those a few years ago and thought…
Somebody made a few $Million$- and it wasn’t me! Damn it!!!
I am not seeing anything on the left other than a standard decora receptacle and decora cover and the receptacle on the right a traditional duplex a receptacle.
While the Block style cover fits around a traditional duplex it looks weird In the inside since the duplex is not flat faced

The "left" is actually a one piece cover, and completely covers the traditional outlet. I don't know that I am crazy about putting another piece of plastic over the existing outlet, but the opportunity exists.
A link or two might have been clearer than one photo.
The left is a standard decora cover for covering a decora outlet …
The fact it surrounds the standard gem box doesn’t mean fitting around a standard gem box on the outside has the receptacle looking like it belongs in it properly
the leviton 80401w plate as an example goes with the decora series like a 5325w which is block shaped
the leviton 88003w goes with conventional receptacles like a 5320w . it is not flat faced like the above so it has cutouts for each section individually
just because the 80401w fits around a 5320w doesnt mean its the right fit on the inside surrounding each receptacle area.
I can fit the 80401w plate around a conventional switch like the 1451-2w as well , but that does not mean I should .. that switch goes with a 88001w , not the block style 80401w plate.
The plates have different shaped cutouts for a reason

Aaaaaaaah okay I get it …it has the look of a decora built in . It wasnt easy to see from the picture what it was
Like you said , I am not crazy about it either ….plus if I am going to want to change plates , I would want to change out the cheap contractor grade receptacles that are likely installed now…there are so many levels of better grade receptacles to put in .
Anything that sees regular use plugging things in and out I swap out automatically.
Over time the vacuum cleaner plug falls out by itself on the cheap stuff .
Because I was a Leviton distributor for decades I get stuff at cost …I actually pay less for hospital grade receptacles then I do the Leviton better commercial and industrial grade stuff.
My wife doesn’t like the hospital grade receptacles because it takes her two hands to pull the vacuum plug out. Ha ha

OP - can you give the actual amazon link to this ~$10/5 outlet deal?
