2022 was a busy year! We moved our daughter from her old room to a guest room with her own bathroom so that required a few minor upgrades the bathroom (it hadn't been touched since 2000 when the house was built). Bathroom got new window, fan, toilet, all new fixtures, top to bottom paint job including changing the trim from wood to white. I painted out the old cabinet to white as well and added a frame around the existing mirror. Since this had been a guest bath, it was rarely used so everything was really in good shape, just outdated.
The bedroom attached to the bathroom also got a top to bottom paint job, again including changing the trim and windows from wood to white. I also added lights to the existing closets and changed all the switches and outlets from beige to white and door knobs/handles/hinges from brass to Nickle - I've been doing this to every room over the last 9 years LOL. Finished it off with a new ceiling fan/light combo.
After moving my daughter to her new room, her old room became the guest room and also needed painting and I also added a new ceiling fan/light to this room.
My sons room got a refresh with some new furniture, new wall color and a new ceiling fan/light fixture.
Thankfully I did all of the above so costs were able to stay low. The expensive projects came in the fall...
We put in a new driveway and added a circle extension for extra parking. In addition to the driveway, we had some lighting work done and added some landscaping to "soften" the additional asphalt. The final project was a new stone wall in the front corner of the house to replace an existing one that was loose and had seen better days.
We tore down our deteriorating second floor deck and built a new one, gorgeous, goes along most of the back of the house with wide stairs going down to the pool. Bonus - put up a privacy section so our nosy neighbor can't watch us anymore.
Swapped a direct vent natural gas wall furnace for one that isn't dependent on electricity. It still burns gas but is controlled by a battery-operated remote/thermocouple arrangement. It doesn't care about power failures. As long as there's gas in the line, it keeps the house warm.
I had new shutters installed because the color of the old ones had faded very badly, and a few of them had parted company with the siding. Also, I had the Englert Gutter Guard system installed.
