We are fairly new owners of a Jacuzzi hot tub (we have had it just shy of 1 year). The hot tub uses UV light inherently as a sanitizer, and we add chlorine 1-2 times per week (depending on use) and non-oxidizing shock about the same amount (more depending on use).

One item the dealer says we should be using is Jacuzzi Pro Clear Plus link here but $90 for something that lasts 2 months is a bit much to me. Frankly, the description is too vague to even tell me what the product is doing, while other products in the marketplace are very specific.

So my question is for other hot tub owners, what is your normal water care routine? In addition to the chlorine/shock, is there any other water conditioning you add to your hot tub?

Never used it!
Mainly because of the environmental impact. I would drain the tub every 3-4wks out into the yard- chlorine breaks down quickly.

The main ingredients in the clarifier is zinc and aluminum oxide- No Bueno for aquatic life.

Have a Jacuzzi brand hot tub that is now about 6 years old. After the initial setup (which uses no chlorine, BTW) to get the alkalinity and hardness right, we just use a small amount of shock after getting out of the tub and that's about it. Check it every month to make sure the PH is right and the water is always clear and clean. Once a year I replace the filters and UV light ($85 from Amazon) when I drain and refill the tub.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not going to lose sleep (or money) over not using this product!
