What's the purpose of this horizontal 'trim' piece on the metal roof? Also runs across the rear, but not ALL the way. Is it just for visual interest? Seems like it's introducing a lot of unnecessary holes... and in a BIG rain, might actually cause water to 'jump' up and over the gutters. What am I missing? Never seen that before.
Snow guards; or as in your example “snow bar” are to hold snow in-place so it doesn’t fall in critical areas. As in that pic, the garage door and the walkway to the front door.
There’s an unbelievable amount of snow guards on the market- but, how they are attached is the most critical factor. I’ve seen pics of partial roof destruction because guards were not properly anchored.
That type of snow guard is horrendous for catching debris, leaves, twigs, etc. single snow tabs are bad enough, but work just as well for blocking snow from sliding down a metal roof and destroying your gutters.

I guess in some areas that could be an issue but not here. We get enough wind that Mother Nature cleans it out pretty effectively.
