There are some really cute "tiny house" looking sheds out there. I was wondering if anyone has experience/thoughts about using one to house an outside changing room and portable nautical/camping type toilet by their pool. The shed could be used for storing pool furniture on the off season and the porto potty could be stored away on the off season. What, of any, down side could you see to this?
Where are you and your guests changing, using the bathroom and storing your furniture now? I'm just wondering if this shed would be solving a problem or if it is just supposed to add atmosphere.
You've described what used to be more popular in the past, a pool house.
I love the idea. Our current home had one that at some point was converted into a full guest house. It's certainly far from a necessity, and if a house didn't already have the makings of one (like available plumbing/electric nearby) I'd not likely have it as a priority.
Having a separate bathroom (small...toilet and sink only) for pool guests keeps the main house clean and lessens foot traffic within. Also good for outdoor but non-pool activities when you want to keep people out of the house. The off-season storage thing is a plus too.
I like the idea, if you plan on plumbing it and having perhaps two separate rooms, one for changing and one for the bathroom, each with a door. At least, that's how I would do it.
Right now, we have a house with a pool and a walkout basement. The previous owner added a bathroom to the garage. It's up a few steps (they did the plumbing above the slab) and has a toilet, sink, and shower. But right now guests have to come through the finished basement to the garage to get to it, which means water is tracked across the floor if they had been in the pool.
We plan on replacing a window in the garage with a door so that at least people can come straight into the garage if they are wet.
