When moving long distance have you left your appliances (fridge, washer, dryer) as part of the home sale, and purchased new ones? OR have you taken your current appliances to the new home? Our appliances are all fairly new but we will need to store them for a while before moving them into our new home. Any opinions or experiences to share?

You may ask the buyers if they want to buy your appliances. They may not want them for any price, or they may jump at the chance.

If you don't want to move them (cost involved), or store them (cost involved) then sell them at an attractive discount and buy new ones when you move.

I sold my Mother's condo with the refrigerator, but they didn't need the washer and dryer.

It all depends. Sometimes the buyers want the appliances and sometimes they have their own.

These are details that get hashed out in closing.

I can tell you NOT to store them. The cost of storage will soon overwhelm the cost of replacing the appliances. If only for a few months of storage ok, if longer, just sell them now and be done with it.

We left them. They still worked fine but they were 13 years old. The house that we bought came with the kitchen appliances but we had to buy a washer and dryer.

We sold them to the buyers. Ours were about 4 yrs old but were top of the line so it was a little hard to part with them. We did get the price we asked so it worked out well for all.

Those particular appliances (ones that aren't built-in and don't appear on the seller's disclosure) are usually negotiable items to be established long before closing (sometimes before the offer comes in, I'll call and ask about that, if my buyers are wanting them - as a seller's agent, if they stay I try to note that in the listing remarks to the agent). So it's on a case by case basis.

I guess I am just too lazy to move all of that big stuff, especially without knowing if it is going to fit into the new place. Plus the added weight in the moving truck reduces fuel economy.

I always sell the appliances with the house.

Ours are included in sale of the home-they're only 2 1/2 yrs. old. Also we're not moving a new chest freezer and new refrig in garage.

We took the washer and dryer - knowing we would need those and left all kitchen appliances with the home and bought new We also sold our deep freeze seperate and bought new.

I would not want to bring your kitche appliances - if you buy a home they are often there or at least some of them (dishwasher and microwave usually in new homes) and I personally would want them to match so if you brought old, who knows if they would.

Hi. I would definately take my appliances and store them until you buy a home. You may come to find out that the little space they took up in that storage unit paid off when the house you buy has no appliances with it.
