Thanks for the help...I turned the AC on again last night and at first the large copper pipe coming out of the condensor unit outside was sweating then I went back out there after it was running about 10 minutes and the pipe was dry and warm. My unit is a gas furnace with a box setting on top with the AC coils in it, then a plenum on top of that. I was thinking of checking the coils to make sure they arent covered with dirt, but there doesn't look to be an easy way to get to them, I'm guessing I have to take off the plenum ductwork and insulating tape between the coil box and furnace and look in there? There isn't another filter is there, just one? I checked that one which is located in the ceiling where I guess the air is sucked in and it's clean...

The air filter in the ceiling is the ony one, you need to call a tec, he will put his gauges on the unit, then he can tell if its low on ref, or even bad valves in the compressors.

Let us know what they say is wrong! My experience has been, if it is low they will simply fill it back up. Saves the Warranty CO. money and makes them look good for cost reasons!!

I put a home warranty on my home while selling it, and my A./C went out. The warranty company sent someone out, they said I had a leak at the coils, and the coils were 30% impacted and coils needed to be replaced, they'd have to contact the warranty company. They added 7# of R22 to get me by for a few days.

A week later, nothing. Long long story, the warranty company sent another repair company out, they tested unit, said no leak at the coils, but the accumulator outside was rusted, corroded with huge hole. They replaced it on the spot, added more R22, adjusted everything, and today, 1 week later, I am nice and cool. No issues with the warranty paying for it.
