My husband and I are building a berm(covered on earth by 3 sides) solar and wind powered house. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing our process. I am posting our story and pictures on the TN forum.

I have been looking to do some of the same things. Not so much to be off the grid but to do some co-generating. Been really looking for a suitable site with potential for some hydro power.
Nice to see the pics, will be reading the thread with a lot of interest when I find some free time.
There is a link you might find interesting, don't know if it has been mentioned before. About home power and being off the grid and all that entales. I used to subscribe to the magazine, followed the site for years. A very good reference for many things.
Duh if they chop the above just search for home power magazine.
Think you are in the early vanguard of what a lot of peeps may be thinking with the oil prices rising. Never going to stop, we are at what is known as "Peak Oil" and energy and all its ramifications will become more expensive.
I did get the pleasure of seeing a similar house to yours about a month ago in terms of being earth sheltered. Such a nice idea.
Will be following your thread with much interest in the future. Thanks again for sharing.
