I can't wait for the one to go up in Moscow, as I visit that city regularly. I hope they put it next to one of the Stalinist wedding cake buildings. That would be really weird.

Being in the construction business, I'm still baffled by how they plan to have plumbing and electrical systems rotating like that- the connections to allow that kind of movement on a continuous basis don't exist. There's also the issue of the bearings/rollers that will allow the rotation, and what you do to maintain them over time. Lastly, I can't imagine what would happen to such a structure in an earthquake or hurricane, so I highly doubt the NY building would ever happen- the building codes are far too restrictive here in the US. While this little fanstasy may seem like a neat idea today, I have a feeling that if it does get built, it's going to be a disaster several years down the road.

Isn't it sad that the U.S. is no longer one of the nations thrusting forward with something like this?

Thrusting forward with what- spending ridiculous amounts of money on something that's absurd and won't meet building codes? Wait until you see the prices for this trainwreck if it ever gets built- the only people who will be buying units are those who have far more money than sense.

Tons and tons of gorgeous architecture that is totally unsafe already. This type of stuff is done for show for a famous architect...nothing more. Looks wonderful.....it's a big waste though. Absolute opposite of the direction the rest of the world is going......it shows it's oil rich roots. That's not green no matter how you look at it. I am surprised anyone would put their career on the line like that.

Call me the skeptic.
