We had a new Maytag dishwasher installed a little over 2 years ago. It wasn't working properly, so we had a repairman look at it. The cost for the repair would be around $300. We've decided to buy a new one instead. Can anyone recommend a good dishwasher in the $400 to $500 range? I'd appreciate any opinions you may have. Thanks!
I have always bought SEARS appliances because I do not like to shop. Our Freezer is over 40 years old and the cloths washer nearly thirty. We did buy a couple of dryers from others stores and after two failed within five years we now have one from, you guessed it, SEARS.
I've been unhappy with all the latest appliances...not just mine either. We bought a whole house full of new appliances because we moved 3,000 miles to our new home. Our son bought a new home with all new appliances and they all seem to have problems. It's like they aren't made to last--not even the first year. We put out a lot of money and our sons home had nothing but the very nicest appliances but so far almost each one has had some kind of problems and needed repair. Just don't think they make 'em like they use to! Maybe it's "where" they are made! Good luck!
We bought a Bosch model SHU43C two years ago and have been more than pleased with it. It's very quiet, and my favorite feature is the "quick wash" which is only 38 minutes long. I use the quick wash every time and have never had a problem with the dishes getting clean enough. IMO, the full cycle of 1 to 1-1/2 hours is too long for a dishwasher to run.
Best dishwasher I've ever had was a Kitchenaid I bought 5 years ago. I can't give you the model number, since I no longer live in that house, but the interior is stainless steel and it has the extra tall (or deep) tub. It was the quietest dishwasher, and it did a fabulous job!
We moved into a brand new house last year with Whirlpool appliances. I like Whirlpool, but the Whirlpool dishwasher is not the upgraded model like my Kitchenaid was.
When I purchased my Kitchenaid dishwasher, I paid $600 for it, but it was worth every penny. Even my hubby laments now how he misses that dishwasher!
Good luck on your search. Your Maytag dishwasher -- is it really Maytag or is it just marketed under the Maytag name (similar to the Performa washer & dryer series sold under the Maytag name)?
Works great for us, DW freaked out her sister by putting unrinsed dishes and pots in it and having the stuff come out perfectly clean. It is a VERY tight fit under the counter,(the dishwasher - not her sister) and the sound blanket is important (err -maybe I shoulda left out that first parenthetical). Anyway, don't let the installer take the easy way out and leave off the blanket.
We decided against another metal tub model because the cost wasn't justified, especially since the motors and pumps usually determine the life of the product.
Also a thumbs up for whirlpool. Ours is about 4 years old now. No problems with it at all. I think its a whirlpool gold if that makes a difference. also as the poster above said, the stainless interiors are a waste of money. The motor or other parts will go long before the plastic tub in a regular one will so save your money on that feature.
