I have two cast-iron bath tubs and was wanting to know what is the best stuff used to clean them? One of them does have some light rust stains on it and I was wondering what would be best to clean it with. Also, I have heard that there is some sort of repair kit you could use to recoat the entire inside of the tub..does anyone know what this stuff is? I plan to change the faucets out and put new ones in its place.

Use ZUD if you are looking to whiten them. I've found it better than Comet of Ajax.

There is a very good chance the smooth porcelain finish is worn to the point that surface is porous and now stains easier.

I've never had any long term luck with any of the in home refinishing services. Looks nice for a while, but eventually the finish will lift and peel... at least it has on every job I've seen.

How old are the tubs? The finish on your tubs is probably just worn down and the tub is already clean. Try cleaning the inside of the tub with some simple green and a scotch brite pad

If you'd like the tubs to look close to new again, resurfacing is an option. It's the closest thing to new. There are store kits or professional refinishers. I do refinishing in Austin and Round Rock myself and I know know there are good companies here. Miracle Method is pricey but they do great work.

I hope that helps
