I work at that phone number, I was wondering how people were getting my number!
So here is the serial number nomenclature for figuring out how old your Carrier, Bryant, Payne air conditioner and furnace are.
Current: 1987 - Present
eg/ 2809a12345 - the first 2 digits represent the WEEK the unit was manufactured, in this case its the 28th week, or the week of July 5.
- the next 2 digits represent the YEAR of manufacture, in this example it is '09.
1970's to 1988 ( 1 alpha plus 6 numeric)
eg/ b123456 - Letters A to L represent units made in the '70s, with the first number being the year. In this example, B is February and 1 is 1971
Letters M to Z are units made in the '80s, so serial# M555555 is January, 1985.
There shouldn't be too many serial numbers that don't follow one of these two common formats, however Carrier used many formats so yours may still be different.
