Hi,

Please let me know whether to buy the below home or stay away:
It’s a three level 3 bedroom home at central NJ. Due to water pipe leak from the next door, crawl base has mold on all side walls. I have eczema; I am worried on buying this. I would appreciate if you could share your experience on this crawl space mold issue. If anyone had experience on this, please let me know the details like how much would cost for inspection, cleaning and others to remove the mold.

Thanks,
Move2NJ

Get a mold remediation company to give you an estimate. The information you give us is not nearly enough to make a guess at the costs you're looking at. Plus, simply dealing with the mold isn't enough. You'll need to make sure that the leak is resolved or else the mold will just recur.

I really have to agree.

Issues related to leaks will often times travel in packs. Issues related to mold travel in gaggles.

Just from an investment perspective you would probably need to be paying pennies on the dollar to be getting a good deal...

Obviously if you are not comfortable, you should not buy the house.

That said, do you know that it is mold? and if so, do you know what type? Was the moisture problem fixed?

There are many things to consider, and this may or may not be a reason to run. Without knowing all of the details, no one can tell you.

I have some people ask me about the "mold" on the wall, and it was just mud that had splashed on the bricks from overflowing gutters.

But, like I said in the first line, if you are uncomfortable, don't buy it.
