We just bought a new house and the garage door only opens two feet. We can open it and shut it. One sensor is green and the other is orange. Are the sensors my problem or is it something else?

Look at the track. At the top corner there is a curved piece of track that guides the door from the vertical track to the horizontal track. When that shifts out of place, the roller catches it, and the door won't go up anymore.

Try disconnecting the opener from the door. See if you can lift it manually and see if the opener goes to the back position without a load. If you can't open the door manually, a spring has likely broken and needs replacing.

Added:

If it's a new construction, call the contractor to fix it before you do anything.

It doesn't appear to be catching on the elbow of the track. I released the latch and it opened manually, heavy but I still was able to open it all the way. Any other suggestions?

I'd go ahead and have both springs replaced. I'd assume they're the same age, so the second one could break at any time. Also, it has carried double to load and can be further weakened.
