So I have an empty room that I was originally going to use as a guest room (although we would only have guests once a year ) I already bought the paint for the room-nice light blue and was going to buy the white furniture at Ikea. Now I just don't know what do with the room? I mean should I have a furnished room that would never get used or what? I already have an office and a bonus room thats being turned into a gym. Please help me.
First, return the blue paint. Ugh, shudder. If the room is big enough to be a media room, that's what I'd do. Otherwise I'd turn it into a library or something of the sort.
LOL No its a light almost pastel blue. Nothing crazy and not big enough for a media room. Theres only two of us anyways. I really am just stuck on what to make the room

i have too many rooms too haha. I turned one room as 'future' son's room, which i turned into my xbox gaming room with drums. i have another room that i'm turning into a foldaway-bed room but mainly projector/large flatscreen tv room probably a theatre big enough for 1 row of seats
Do you like to read, do crafts, etc? You could turn it into a combo room.
Like a Library with a nice couch/bed and end tables with reading lights (if theres not enough room you could get a pretty wall light)
You could also do a craft area the same way.
Do you need extra storage space? I had a cousin who made a simple pretty wall partition and split up a room to have a twin size bed for guests and the otherside was storage. She hated the attic and only used it for things she didnt think she would need for yrs.

Make more friends and invite them to stay more often? LOL
I agree with making it a media room. Or just a room for relaxing, crafts, reading, or whatever you're into. Get an inexpensive futon or pull-out for guests.
Yes, I was going to suggest a craft or hobby room. And maybe a full size sleeper sofa, for when there is company.
don't forget to check out Craigslist or thrift shops, if that is your cuppa tea- you would be amazed at the good solid furniture you can get
We have a similar room, equipped with a futon and lots of pillows, books, a small table, and several lamps. It's nice to have a quiet room to go to when I want to read or just sit someplace with my thoughts.
I have two unused bedrooms right now that I just enjoy looking at because they're pretty. When (infrequent) guest do come, I don't need to scramble around to accomodate them.
If another use for this room isn't immediately apparent, then you probably won't use it any more than you will use the guestroom.
My pet peeve is when rooms are not used for their intended purposes. ..garages are not family rooms, and dining rooms are not offices, etc. My vote is to do the bedroom and just stick your sewing machine or hobby stuff in there (I keep my ironing board up in one of mine when nobody's looking).
