Our house isn't old, built in 2000. There is a crack growing along the ceiling where the ceiling changes from being slanted to flat; just right along an akward angle. It is thin, but eventually gets longer... it is about a foot and a half long.
What is the best way to fix it? Do I just add some putty stuff in it? Also, I do not want to repaint the entire ceiling.. any advise would be helpful, thanks.
It's probably a tape joint that is opening up. Usually it's caused because the coverage of the drywall compound wasn't all that thick to begin with, and when houses move a little, the joints open up.
You can use more drywall compound, or you can use caulking too.
You will probably have to paint though.

It is difficult to imagine a scenario in which you have a satisfactory repair that will not require painting. It is equally difficult to imagine a scenario where you have a satisfactory repair that will require painting the entire ceiling.
