I'm under contract with a 50's ranch and want to hear from people who own one and love it. Also, any tales of caution, too!

I've only been in mine for a few months, but so far am loving the hardwood floors and the huge picture window. Not so much loving the narrow garage entrance, and the plumbing problems that will need to be adressed eventually.

Well it's an 80's ranch-but I love the no stairs. (except to the finished basement)
& the laundry chute from the master bathroom vanity to right over the washer.
Don't understand why people in retirement condos get stairs. I grew up with stairs-bedrooms upstairs. You always had piles on the bottom steps, for the next person who was going up to take with them.

Well, I really loved the garage that had been converted into a family room with knotty pine paneling and green shag carpeting. Truly.
No, seriously I liked the big rooms except for the one 1 dinky bathroom.

I like how all of the bedrooms are at one end. That allows the late nighters to make some noise while the sleepyheads do their sleeping. No stairs - total boon. You don't have to listen to other people go thud, thud, thud down the hallways upstairs.
As a kid, I enjoyed being able to climb up onto the roof and jump off. My parents would say that's a cautionary tale. Now that I'm a parent, I guess I would, too.

I don't own one, but I grew up in one and my mom still lives there. Built in 1955, three bedrooms, one bath.
What I like about it ... big, sunny living room with lots of windows. Decent number of closets. The french doors in the dining room, which lead to a big patio. Two big windows in every bedroom. Big garage. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuge basement. The bathroom is a decent size; there was never a problem with sharing (except for when my sister went through her 30-minute shower phase).
I never have liked my mom's kitchen, basically a galley kitchen with a weird turn into the dining room. But there's a pass-through from the kitchen to the dining room, which helps open up the kitchen a little.
