I think there are a few of these house hunter type shows. oddly i find it more entertaining when the buyer doesnt get approved for a loan after all that shopping and describing her preferences
Stagers ( the one with Matthew. I think he's a delightful person with great vision. I hate Maureen and Bridget. It's like watching a catfight every episode. )
Sabrina Soto...i forgot the name of that show. She gives really great tips and she's cute.
Divine Design...some of her work is amazing but i can sort of predict what she's gonna do... fireplace, built-ins etc..
Property Virgin...I like sandra's personality. She says it like it is.
Renovation Realities...this show is so funny
A few shows I don't like
Design on a dime...basically does what it says but it looks too cheap for my tastes
Spice up my kitchen...the designs are really boring...they're all old-fashion maple or cherry
Pure design...is the host of drugs, botox or something? She's always looking sedated
Observations
In shows like My first place and Property Virgins, it amazes me how little imagination and superficial people are. They can't get past a little clutter or wallpaper to see the "bones" of the house. They always get sucked in (or out) by the cosmetics.
Secondly, even more amazing, are the number of people who are putting down 0 to 5% on the purchase. It seems like that happens 70% of those shows. Also, most of them have no clue about mortgage, closing costs, inspections etc. I mean, how hard is it to read about it before being on the show? They expect everything to be served to them on a platter. I'm wondering what percentage of those people who filmed before 2008, are underwater.
My favorite is House Hunters also....especially the international version. I watch a variety of shows on that particular network but try not to get all caught up in their latest upgrades of the day. The network is designed to sell stuff. So, I enjoy some parts and totally ignore the others.
I wasn't as wild about the Dream House this year as I have been in other years.
Divine Design.
If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I'd like to do is get Candice Olsen on retainer and fly her down from Canada to redo my entire house!
