We've actually heard of a few of these here. The folks steal whatever is in the car including your gargae door opener and your GPS and use them to break into your home.

Fear mongering (at least with respect to the GPS thing)
While this is true and possible, and I even changed my GPS because of the same thought, it dawned on me also that plenty of things, car registration specifically, have your home address on them, so if someone breaks into your car and your GPS is set to down the block, your car registration still betrays your attempts at misdirection.

LOL good thing 2002 model BMWs use CDs for the GPS units. our new house wasnt even on the map back then. man, i'm sooo lucky

Burglars are more like to already know you and your home or they are more like to cruise looking for homes they want to hit.The smart burglars get rid of any ID except credit cards quickl;y .they only risk credit cards because of the easy of use.

We don't carry car registration in our cars in Texas and it is not a good idea for any state to require it.

I keep a copy of my concealed carry permit with my registration. Problem solved.  |

For our home address entered into our GPS, we put the address of the gas station on the corner, just for that reason.
I figure we can find our way home from the corner....

I got 2 mean a**s rottweilers waiting in my home for some quick snacks. Also just got video cams that I can watch my exterior and interior live via internet.
All that with the monitored alarm system I think they got their hands full if they want to get in.
