It was actually 9 1/2" by 25 3/4", (the other measurement was to illustrate the dramatically unique measurements) but the duct that the sheetmetal shop built for me had those dimensions.
You can probably download the manual and spec sheet to your vent hood online and may be able to solve most of your problems before you ever get the unit home.
I just bought this one to replace my old one at Home Depot. I never installed one before. It is under my kitchen cabinet. I will turn off all the electricity in the house since there will be wires to connect. Anything else i need to be careful of? Thanks.

Which one?
"careful of?"
Uh, like did you buy the correct one for the intended application? I find it utterly amazing at times when people buy something they "want" rather than "need" only to find out that their want didn't fit their need- savvy?

Oops...forgot to put the link. This cheap one here...haven't installed it yet, but will do so tomorrow when i go over to my mother's house. Just anything i need to be aware of mistakes that many who install ones make...
So, you're taking an old one out and replacing it with the new one. Is the old one vented to the exterior? Is the connection point on the new one the same as the old one?
Do you even know if the old one was installed correctly to begin with? Or are you assuming it is and just going behind the old with the new?
I can go on and on- but the short answer is, good luck!
