but, the high/low on something like that here is usually $3500/$1800. And that's if its an easy swap.
I would like to say though, there's nothing dangerous about having a fused panel in your house. It may be a little inconvenient at times if you blow one and forget to keep spares on hand, but its perfectly safe. We still use fuses.
I would have an electrician inspect all the wiring. Sometimes we find oversized fuses for the gauge wire, or find evidence of where it's been done in the past. But finding an oversized fuse doesn't always equal a problem. As long as the insulation test checks out fine, you can replace with the correct size fuse and move on.
