The tub liners are a bit costlier but last a lifetime, maybe $2000 to $2500. You pay for the speed, lack of any mess and convenience of a new liner which can be installed in 4 hours. No down time. Material is in acrylic or fiberglass and is a quarter inch thick so it is durable.

Reglazing is temporary because it just sits on a porcelin surface which is a very poor surface for anything to stick to. This job can be done by a DIYer but it involves 4 to 6 hours of sanding and a very dirty large mess. The reglaze kits take 72 hours to cure before you can take a shower. If just one lilttle microspeck of area was missed then water will get under it and the glazing will fail in 7 days. Reglazing can be done for $100 or less.
