No matter whether it's a big or small thing, common or unusual... What three specific features do you like BEST about your house?

(Things within the house itself, not anything to do with the yard or geographic location)

In no particular order -- because I quickly became totally spoiled by all three equally! -- mine are:

* The walk-in (6' x 12') pantry right off the kitchen

* The huge (9' x 14') walk-in closet off the master bedroom

* The big Fiat utility sink, with both hot and cold water, in the garage.

(These are from the last house I owned, and sold a year ago. We have since been house-sitting someone else's place while we are house-hunting again and not a day goes by when I don't miss these three things specifically!)

What are your Top Three?

Good idea for a thread! I would have to say...

1) The breeze. I'm on a hill so looking out my back windows all I see are rooftops. This means opening my windows pulls through an awesome breeze.

2) And speaking of breeze... my deck would have to be number two. I live in a semi-rural location so I have a great view from the deck and it is large enough for a big grill, table, chairs, etc.

3) The sink in the kitchen. The previous owner redid the kitchen and though some of it I would've done different the sink is perfect. Double sinks, one over sized while the other is much smaller and faucet that pulls out with an inline hose. Leaving the nozzle and a handle. The nozzle has a switch on it that turns it from stream to spray and the hose is long enough you can fill a bucket or hose off the sink or clean out a garbage can. Really handy and I find myself using it much more than I would've thought when I moved in.

1. Our Florida room with the huge sliders that open onto our patio.
2. High ceilings.
3. Having a hard time coming up with number three ... I guess it would be large windows throughout.

PS Please don't ask for number four - I can't think of one :-) Can ya tell I'd like to win the lottery so that whole-house-renovations could happen?

The big picture window that brings in a lot of sunshine and looks out onto a beautiful, peaceful view.

The wood and tile floors, no more WTW carpet or vinyl flooring.

The little deck, would have preferred a porch, but still, a deck is good too. Very nice to sit out with a tall cold glass of something and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Space. For the first time I have a home with lots of room. Needs to have lots of work done to all that space, but we're able to spread out so much. We'd bought the house because of that room - we had 5 kids at home at the time and wound up with 2 of their friends moving in too - so that space was really well utilized. Now that we're down to just the two girls at home we've got so much extra room that I've never had before. A library - I always wanted one of those. We tore down a wall between a small first floor bedroom and the master and now have a massive 4 room master suite. The girls have their own suite upstairs.

Speaking of upstairs, I love my attic. I know that's bizarre, but we moved from SW FL. We don't have huge attics like that there. We get crawl spaces. This is a mongo third floor all for storage. Handy since hubby is quite the collector. And the attic has 'wings' to it; areas off the main room that we can use for storing different stuff. Because of that, I've got one 'room' just for holiday decorations. One is dedicated to all of hubby's career memorabilia. One is for the kids to store whatever they want. One is totally empty and the main room which is as big as the main part of the house is totally bare to walk through. We do plan on popping a third bathroom up there some day for the girls, but as big as it is, it won't cut into the storage spaces.

Last is the open floor plan. The foyer is open to the dining room, living room, kitchen, and the library we removed the door and are putting in a pocket door. The mud room and laundry room open right off the main area too. The only rooms that are seperate and private are the bedrooms and bathrooms. For an area with a low ceiling it helps make it feel bigger.
