I don't know if this is the place to post this question but i don't know where else to ask it.
I left a piece of gum in the pocket of my light blue cotton sweatshirt. The sweatshirt was in my car for a few days ... in the sun ... in the heat.
Is there a miracle product or a miracle tip to get this out of the fabric?
It's really deep into the material.
Thanks.

I'd imagine wd-40 is going to leave a big oil stain?

Not sure if this will work but I successfully did this with melted wax in a carpet. Heat a big pot of boiling water, get a ladle and ladle some onto the gum and suck it up with a wet/dry vac. With the wax after I had gotten the bulk of it up I still had a film which I scrubbed out with some fabric detergent and the hot water. Kept repeating until it was gone.

Only problem when I was done was it was cleanest spot on the carpet. LOL.

Edit: sorry I was assuming the gum was in the car seat fabric, if it's in the sweater you could try using something like turkey baster to localize to keep the hot water on one spot. Use the relly small extension on the vacuum hose. I'm going to take wild guess it will work great but the fabric is going to screwed up in that area.

WD-40 gets good revues for this type of problem. The simple solution is to get in the car, go to a dry cleaners, point out the problem and leave the garment, and come back next week... The miracle costs $3 or $4.

You could try putting your jacket into a bag and then placing it in the freezer for a few hours. The gum would probably get brittle enough to crumble off. It would be worth a try anyway.

Thank you all.
Good suggestions and, being that i'm a bit lazy, i like the dry-cleaning one the best.
Why didn't i think of that?

What ever happneed to peanut butter? We used to use it to get gum out of our hair when we fell asleep chewing gum. Worked like a charm. It just dissolves the gum. Maybe gum is different now.

It's the oil that does it...reduces the stickiness. But any kind of oil is likely to leave a stain on the material.
