btw, I just told my son what you said about the bolt and the cap. His response...."I don't know what you're talkin' about". I think I'm in trouble. This is one of those days that a good cry, a licensed professional, and a few margaritas might improve.

The piece comings up from the well has a cap. There should be four bolts on the pump, they HAVE to match. They are all NOT the same. Check before it is too late to take the pump back. Is it a 2 inch well??

I wish I could answer your questions, Driller. Right now my son is in the crawl space, and any dialog could endanger my life...I think.
I only know that the well itself is located out in the front/side yard. The thing he's workin' on is under the house. It has a tank thingie that hooks to the pipes that come through the foundation. The pump jobbie seems to attach to that.
I'm sure that is no help, but I truly appreciate your effort to assist.

I understood you perfectly!!! He has a pressure tank and a pump. You do have to tell him to be careful. You have drop pipe and a jet in the bottom of your well. On that drop pipe is CRUDE. If a little piece of that gets in the jet it could kill the well. The old stuff is hard and sometimes impossible to work on. Many times the drop well break off when trying to get it out. LOL my hubby is a BEAR when working on things.

This was a day to chalk up a couple for the gals! The HVAC person who came to give us an estimate was female. She was a great help. This was the fourth company we called. Two never called back. The third company showed up and then didn't call with an estimate.
This gal was here early this morning, gave us some insight, had her installation guy come out within a couple of hours, called us back with an estimate, and came back to get the deposit check before 4:00 this afternoon.
They may be here tomorrow or Wednesday to do the work. Great service!

You have a simple 2 line deep well jet pump. You disconnect the old pump from the two water lines and the power and hook them and the electrical up to the new pump.
Check the new pump is wired internally, you remove the read end cap on the motor, for the voltage the old pump ran on; 120 or 240 (240 would be the norm) and then prime the pump and turn on the power.
Driller1 (mod cut) is talking as if you have a vertical jet pump that sets on top of the well casing, which you don't. But, you should tell hubby he should have bought the same size pump (gpm and hp) because the jet in the well and the pump must match and going to a 3/4 hp differnet gpm won't match a 1/2 hp x gpm pump's jet all that well. The j-body is on the bottom of the two pipes going down the well. The j-body won't be all that deep in the well, a 2 line jet pup system is usually not too good below 150'.

Thank, Driller!
We do have water. It's loud, but we don't have the floors recovered yet. Maybe that will help. We are installing hardwood and tile.
I wish I knew more about this stuff to have an intelligent conversation. There is only one line from the well into the crawl space. If that doesn't mean anything, then Gary up there may be correct. I guess we'll find out........the hard way.
