Is there any special interior plumbing need for a 3/4hp vs a 1/2hp water pump? We are ready to install a new one....3/4hp.
I was trying to find info on line...no luck.
We have the interior of the house totally ripped apart....walls down....ceilings down....dust everywhere.....splinters in my posterior from pulling floor staples from Luan (sp?)...it's 90+ degrees....and the water pump fell apart. How that for a desperate whine!!??
Advanced 'thank you' for any help you folks can provide.;

I don't know what the difference in price will be - perhaps it's prohibitive to go with the 3/4 horse pump.
But my thought is to put in the more powerful one. A deep well works the submersible pump kind of hard, so the more power the pump has, the more likely it is to last quite awhile longer.

OK, the most important thing is for it to be the same kind as you had so it will bolt up to the cap. Be careful, just a little bit of dirt gets down in your jet and you could wreck your well. I would go with a 3/4. To be honest I know more about submersibles. IMO, you should call a driller.

Thanks, Omaha Rocks. The pump was $30.00 more for the 3/4hp. He got the larger one. Since this is sort of an emergency situation, he went to Lowe's to get it. We had a Gould. This one isn't the same brand.

Yeah, Driller1...we shoulda called someone. Thing is we already did that today....to the tune of $975.00 for HVAC stuff. Things never go quite as planned, but I have one hell of a character!! Looks as if it's gonna be a "butt-splinter sleepin' night". Wouldn't be so bad if I was so danged old. At my age, more than 10 minutes without water is 10 minutes too long.

Many times people think they need a pump and the problem is in the well. Now, just the style of pump tells me this well is old.

Yeah, that pump was old....20 years. The pump was still goin'. The reserve tank rusted out in the crawl space.
btw, I just told my son what you said about the bolt and the cap. His response...."I don't know what you're talkin' about". I think I'm in trouble. This is one of those days that a good cry, a licensed professional, and a few margaritas might improve.
