Installing Farmer/Apron Sink Over Granite Countertop (granite countertops, Lowes, kitchen)

I had a granite countertop installed last year and, without giving much thought to it, agreed to have a stainless steel double sink installed at the same time.
Since then, I've wished I'd had a large, single farmers sink (also called an apron sink) installed instead. Would it be possble to have someone do that now? It would involve cutting the granite where the "apron" part of the sink would be -- how difficult is that? Would I need to have a plumber and a granite installer work together?
Thanks, but I'm not sure I understand your question. Arent all base cabinets the same depth? I'm sorry to sound so ignorant but why would there be an issue about my cabinet accomodating the sink?
This past week I finalized and ordered my kitchen cabinet design. I was told (by the designer at Lowes, who may or may not be knowledgeable) that I needed to know if I was going with a farmhouse sink or an undermount beforehand, so I could get the appropriate cabinet to accomodate it. Not sure if it was an aesthetics issue, but it's possible that with an apron front, the sink base cabinet holding it will require extra shoring up to "cradle" the sink.
Plenty of kitchen pro's here, so I'm sure someone with chime in.

It might be something you can retrofit, in terms of support in the cabinet - again, I am SO not a pro with this. As for the front, did you measure the size of the "apron" of the prospective sink to where it would have to be cut out of the cabinet - would it cut into the doors?
The cabinets were all custom made by a carpenter-friend. I'll check into the logistics of the doors after I find out if the granite can be cut (safely) once it's been installed. Thanks again!
im building a set of knoty pine cabinets for a client with a apron sink. it is recessed 10 inches from the top of the cabinets .the base cabinet will be the same width but the doors will be about 2 inchs shorter. as the other man was talking about lowes cabinets, i beat lowes price 8 times by 2 to 4 thousand with custom cabinets
