I don't know how many trees, maybe 1/5th of an acre, maybe slightly more. Taller and older trees in the northeast. Not super tall, but not exactly short.

You will need to call an excavating company. They charge by the hour.

If you want the trees left behind as mulch find someone who uses one of these to remove the trees.

I hate to say. I would think $200/$300 an hour with a minimum charge. My sister-in-law rented a dozer and felt they saved.

If they are sawmill quality, you might be able to get a logger to remove them for free. Of course, that depends on your location, quantity of trees and their species.

Default Look to get the wood................

First you have to understand what you got.

If you got old growth or even trees over 100 years old could be sitting on prime timber. You want to explore the idea of cutting them, have them sawn into lumber to meet a bill of material and then kiln dried.

Many times you can do it by shares and don't even have to pay any money for the cutting or services. There are sawyers who can cut on site. Pays to first understand what is there in terms of wood species.

How big around are they at chest level? About how many? Do they look straight? What species, probably either pine or oak, could be maple or elm in your area.

Look around to find a local saw mill or mobile sawyer. They should know all about how to turn them into lumber if any quality. Nothing like putting your own trees into your own house. Sure can beat junk crap you might buy in stores. Lots of folks do that in my area, something I have been looking to do. Never, never give them away, try to get some of the wood for yourself if excellent quality.

Always think out of the box. Do not assume something in the wrong place is trash. Know what you got first.

Once the trees are gone, the land clearing / stump removal you can do as part of the foundation digging. Same equipment dig up the stumps. If all else fails think wood, fire wood, sell the trees, let them cut them down free. Wood in any form is not trash. It has money value.

Never deal with idiots or those who want to skin you. Always know who you are talking too, cut a hard bargain. Just like them Old Yankees always did.

Cosmic,

I always value your input, but unfortunately the above is kind of like telling a golfer with a wicked slice "You're putting clockwise spin on the ball. Always put backspin on it."
