I have the same tool you have and I have all the attachments to go with it, I could not do my yard without these tools, my suggestion is to invest in this product and you will not regret it. Believe me it does the job

I have 2 acres and went thru several low-end weedwackers/trimmers. Finally bought a John Deere commercial quality gas engine trimmer and as per their suggestion only use one string rather than 2. Does the job extremely well. And nicely enough, although I'm only 5'4" tall, I have no problem with the length or weight of it since it is nicely balanced and I can use it one armed with no shoulder strap. It's 5 yrs old now - so far, so good.

Like as it has been stated here before, depends on your needs. You live in an apartment per your post so I would think you don't have a lot of trimming to do. Avoid the gas models unless you just like spending money. They are a major headache and maintenance is high versus an electric. I'd suggest looking for a 2 speed electric model that has the option of other attachments.
If you had a much larger place I would have a different suggestion, we had the gas models at our church. The property is 7 acres. We've had every trimmer available and all are crap made to bleed you of money. We found it far, far cheaper to put a small generator on the riding lawn mowers trailer and use electric. Cut our costs of maintenance by 2/3rds. Now we no longer have the need for special expensive tools to use around the grounds. Need to drill a hole? Just get the mower with the generator. It really got a workout when we made our community garden with all of the timbers that had to be cut. Works great with an electric chain saw too. And no gas engine to not start or all of the smoke and oil to fool with- just pull the trigger. The generator is a Honda and has been incredibly reliable as it hasn't failed in 3 years now.
