There are many threads on here about cost and kinds of hardwood flooring.
I need basic advice/tips, whatever ya got.
We are closing on a house in the next month, and its got hardwood throughout. Actually its got no carpet in any single room. I need to know the *Best cleaners (hopefully ones that can do hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring)
*How to prevent scratches in the hardwood (I have two dogs, and a child like husband)
*How to remove scratches (or make them less visible)
*How to take sqeaks out of the flooring

Any any other tips ya got!!
I have a swiffer wet jet, can I use that on the whole house? I am clueless, and these are nice floors that I don't want to mess up!! Thanks!!!

Scrathes are just going to happen unless you either wear no shoes in the house, trim the nails short on the dogs or put throw rugs or runners down.

Removing scrathes....really nothing but to sand the floor.

to take a squeak out....put some talcum powder on the area over the squeak. And rub it it to the cracks between the floor boards. This is a temp. fix. Otherwise go under the first floor and look at the subfloor. there may be a gap that you may be able to fill in.

the best item to use on hardwood is to get a floor vac to vac the floors with. then u need to purchase a hard wood floor cleaning mop. the cleaner is called BONA u won't find a better product out there. u may have to go to a flooing company to buy it.I wouldn't recomend using your swiffer they cause streaks and buildup. you aren't supposed to use water on hardwood. For scratches u can get a stain pen at a harware store an color over your scratches.Hope this helps ya.
