What did you like or not like? How far can it measure? Fairly accurate?

I'm thinking one would be great for all the rough measurements for laying out landscape drawings, but they would have to be able to mearure at least 100 feet. For this sort of job, a couple inches off at 100' would be OK.

I borrowed a neighbor's and liked it enough to almost buy one for myself. Easy to use, convenient, saves the walking back and forth to set the end of a tape then move it elsewhere. It doesn't hurt that it could be considered a gadget and Lord knows I love me some gadgets.

I have a 100' reel tape that I generally use for such things. We've got our fair share of obstacles in our back yard (Trees, deck rails, trees, storage shed, trees, etc.) and it can be a bit of a pain trying to find that perfect spot to avoid everything. If not, you're tacking a bunch of smaller measurements together. I didn't have that issue with the laser version in the brief time I used it.

He bought his online at Home Depot's site, I believe it was a Ryobi and was under $200. Checked quick and was right about the brand but it was actually $150. The sole reviewer said it had a range of around 150' and accuracy was around +/- 1/16".

Yep, I would buy one for myself but would have a hard time justifying the cost to the DW with all the stuff I already have plus the fact that measuring devices have a tendency to disappear while in my possession. I was watching some reality DIY show awhile back and the guy on it was the same way. He had his wife go to a store and buy something like 8 tape measures for a project because he knew he would be misplacing them. My wife said "That's you!"
